Pat Giarrizzo

SevenBar Helicopter Pilot, Lewiston
Pat has been a New Englander all his life. He grew up in Massachusetts and lived in New Hampshire for much of his adult life. He now lives in Maine. Pat joined the Army as a VIP helicopter pilot and served overseas in Germany for six years. He returned to the New Hampshire Army National Guard, where he spent the remainder of his twenty years of service as a MEDEVAC pilot.

Pat was deployed to Bosnia and Iraq, where he discovered a genuine love for flying emergency medical helicopters. He was honored to be part of a medical lifeline for soldiers, and now for the public working for LifeFlight.

He truly enjoys his work, the crews, mechanics and dispatch personnel he works with, and looks forward to many years of flight serving the fine people of Maine.

Karl Hatlemark

SevenBar Helicopter Pilot, Lewiston
Karl was born and raised in Norway.  After completing his education and term in the Airforce, he traveled to the United States to train to become a helicopter pilot.  Upon completion of his schooling he worked as a flight instructor/charter pilot for a short time. He was offered and accepted a position with a company in the South Pacific, where he spent 7 years supporting oil and gold exploration and a variety of additional missions. He returned to the US in the mid 90’s flying coast to coast (including Alaska) fighting forest fires, and supporting offshore and seismic activities. In the late 90s, he accepted a position in coastal Oregon, where he spent approximately 3 years transferring ship pilots across the treacherous Columbia River Bar in very challenging weather conditions. He joined LifeFlight of Maine in 2002 to be closer to his wife’s family in New England and easier travel back to his family in Norway.

Dave Beaulieu

An ever-aspiring, but closet ornithologist, aviator Dave (aka "Blue") Beaulieu gets to live out his hopes and dreams of emulating the original feathered-type flyers of this world by piloting helicopters for the LifeFlight of Maine program. With the exception of the occasional bird strike, Dave humbly reports he has yet to meet a bird he can outfly!

Ben Patrick

SevenBar Fixed Wing Pilot, Bangor
Ben was born and raised in Maine for the majority of his life. He joined the Maine Army National Guard as a Blackhawk mechanic in a MEDEVAC unit. Shortly after arriving to the unit he was nominated to become the youngest person in the Maine Army National Guard to be sent to flight school.

In February 2007, he was appointed to Warrant Officer and began flight training on the UH-60 Blackhawk. Additionally, he transitioned to the King Air 200 to support another Maine unit that was in need of pilots on a tour to Iraq. He is currently flying both the King Air 200 Medevac for LifeFlight of Maine and the UH-60 Medevac for the Guard out of Bangor.

Ben also flew for Island Airlines out of Hyannis for a time. He has 1000 hours in King Air models and 650 hours in rotor wing aircraft.  Currently living in Frankfort, Maine on the small farm he and his wife built, Ben enjoys the work and service this organization does for all the great communities around the state of Maine and is thankful every day to be a part of it.

Paul Dempsey

SevenBar Fixed Wing Pilot, Bangor
Paul is a New England native who graduated from Norwich University in 1988 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter and subsequently attended USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT), graduating in 1990.  Paul attended follow-on training for the KC-135 and was assigned to Plattsburgh AFB NY. 

He upgraded to Aircraft Commander and Instructor Pilot, finally becoming a Formal Training Instructor at Altus AFB OK where he trained new pilots on the KC-135.  He has participated in every major operation where airpower was involved since Desert Storm and has over 500 hours of combat time.  He is a graduate of the USAF Air Command and Staff College and Instrument School and was Chief of Weapons and Tactics. 

He retired as a Flight Commander with the rank of LtCol.  Paul and his wife, April, live in Hudson with their two daughters, Anna and Beth.

Hargrave Garrison

SevenBar Fixed Wing Pilot, Bangor
A Captain, Hargrave comes to LifeFlight of Maine and 7Bar Aviation from Swift Air where he has been flying a Boeing 737 charter service in the US, Canada, and Central and South America. He has more than 8700 hours of total flying time with various other carriers, but primarily with Avantair where he added over 3000 hours in the Piaggio. Hargrave also has experience flying both King Air and Beech Jet aircraft.

He brings solid experience to LifeFlight, providing a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to help strengthen the organization's fixed wing program.  Hargrave lives in New Glocester, ME.

Jim Gerry

Jim is a First Officer who is an ATP-rated pilot with more than 5200 total flying hours. Jim has taken an extensive break from the commercial flying world, His last tour, lasting 3 years, was with the Mitsubishi Diamond Jet. He also has considerable time in other twin engine Cessna aircraft.  Approachable and genuine, Jim brings with him a team attitude that is contagious. Jim lives in South Portland.

Joe Quesnel

SevenBar Fixed Wing Pilot, Bangor
Joe was born and raised in Middlebury, Vermont where he learned to fly at  a young age, receiving his pilot license at the age of 18. He's been in aviation his entire professional life, starting as an A&P Aircraft Mechanic working for a commuter airline, then as an airport manager where he was a flight instructor and managed the flight school and the maintenance shop. From there, he flew for a Fed-Ex feeder and later for a charter company flying a King Air and a Citation Excel. Through his career he has logged more than 5000 hours of flight time. He now resides in Hope, Maine with his wife and three children.

Jon Smith

SevenBar Fixed Wing Pilot, Bangor
Jon started his flying career in the flight department of Florida Institute of Technology before transferring to Delta Connection Academy in Sanford, Florida. Upon completion of the Delta professional pilot program, he was hired as a flight instructor. Jon was the multi-engine group lead, managing four instructors and up to 25 students.

He then joined a commuter airline based in western Tennessee where he was quickly promoted to Company Instructor Pilot/Check Airman. Jon was hired by SevenBar Aviation in February 2011 as a First Officer based in Nashville, TN, and upgraded to Captain in November 2012. 

He now serves as the Base Safety Manager and Instructor Pilot in Bangor for LifeFlight. Jon is married with two children. He and his wife are native to the Northeast (CT, NY respectively), and are thrilled to now call Maine home.

Liz Maynard

Liz Maynard began her flying life working as a young staff cadet at an Air Experience Flight, a unit within the Air Training Corps in the U.K.  There she spent every weekend and vacation strapping and unstrapping fellow cadets in and out of DeHavilland Chipmunks in return for a few minutes flying at the end of each day. Since then she has flown both professionally and in her own time, flying many different aircraft, from gliders to jets. She has also worked as an instructor and airline pilot.

Nathan Wight

Nathan is a pilot with 20 years of experience flying primarily in New England. He started his aviation career in 1995 working as an A&P mechanic, and started flying professionally in 1996. Nathan has worked a variety of flight jobs including corporate flight departments, commuter airlines, and freight and charter operations. He is an Airline Transport Pilot licensed for multi-engine aircraft and holds an Airframe and Power Plant License. He and his wife live in Bethel, Maine. They have three daughters and two grandchildren.
