This map shows the location of all the helipads and landing zones in the state. The helicopter icons in Lewiston and Bangor represent LifeFlight’s two bases. Use the menu at top right to find towns located within 80, 60, 40 or 20 minutes of each helicopter.

LifeFlight of Maine uses two twin-engine Agusta 109E helicopters, operated by SevenBar Aviation. These aircraft travel at an average speed of 165 mph, making the trip from Caribou to Bangor in less than an hour. After a multi-year infrastructure project, nearly every hospital in Maine and several small communities have built dedicated helipads to increase the efficiency of emergency helicopter transports.

In an effort to improve access in the state’s rural areas, a group of dedicated volunteers have also been working to establish landing zones along Maine’s extensive recreational trail network.
