Joe Moore, CCEMT-P

Joe MooreBorn and raised in Midcoast Maine, Joe comes from a family that has a strong history in public safety. His grandfather, father and brothers have all been or are currently law enforcement officers. Joe, on the other hand, was more interested in flying, and he knew that law enforcement was not the right choice for him. He began taking flying lessons as soon as he could, making his first solo flight at 16 years old, and continued to work toward his goal of becoming a pilot. In spite of this, he was still interested in some sort of public service. A serious family event convinced him to take a basic EMT class, and it turned out this was also a good way get his feet wet in the field of public service. But after his first run as a driver on the volunteer ambulance service in his hometown, he was hooked.

Joe worked full time at Camden First Aid Association and attended the Kennebec Valley Community College paramedic program in 2000. While attending paramedic school, he also became a certified firefighter. Following paramedic school, he worked for the City of Rockland Fire/EMS department for 8 years. While there, he became a HAZMAT technician, certified fire instructor and fire officer, certified CCEMT-P, licensed EMS instructor and earned his AS degree in paramedicine. But the thought of combining his passion for flying with his chosen profession was never far from his mind, and he achieved his goal of becoming a paramedic with LifeFlight of Maine in 2009.

Joe remains an active member of the local fire and EMS community where he lives. He still serves as a call firefighter, is a member of the Mid-Coast EMS Council and is an active fire and EMS instructor.

When he is not working or studying for his bachelor’s degree, Joe enjoys being outdoors, hiking with his wife and dog, riding his bicycle, hunting, fishing and shooting.
